Young, Bernard "Bud"

YOUNG, Bernard "Bud"

1933 - 2021

On Wednesday, May 5th, 2021, we suddenly lost a husband, father, grandfather and friend.

Bernard (Bud) Young was born in Kirkland Lake, Ontario on December 30th, 1933. One of five children, Bud is survived by his wife of 66 years Cecile (nee Gauthier), his daughter Corinne (David) granddaughter Jennifer, his son Pat (Chris) and was predeceased by eldest son Michael (Bonnie).

Retired from the Town of Kirkland Lake in 1994, Bud enjoyed being at home, as travelling wasn’t in his genes. He lived a simple life here in Kirkland Lake, spending his day puttering outdoors or fishing at his favourite spot, watching TV, but his favourite pastime was teasing his wife. Bud had the best sense of humour, which everyone experienced when meeting him.

The past year had been a difficult time for him, as he was separated for most of it from the love of his life, his wife, who is at Teck Pioneer Residence.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Kirkland and District Hospital for the care they gave to him the short time he was there.

There will be no funeral or visitation. Cremation has taken place and Bud will be laid to rest at a later date.

My sincerest condolences to you and your family. Bud was a wonderful man...who kind of scared me with his crazy sense of humour, I didn't know what was going to come out of his mouth when I was in his company. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad time.

Dear Cecile, I was so sorry to hear of Bud’s passing. 66 years of marriage is amazing. I remember our days of crafting and learning textile painting with great fondness.
