Betty Ramsay,

BETTY RAMSAY,

2021

RAMSAY, Betty It is with much sadness that the Ramsay family announces the death of their beloved mother, grandmother and sister Betty Mae Ramsay (nee Loach) on September 22, 2009 at the Kirkland Lake & District Hospital. Mrs. Ramsay was predeceased by her husband David Ramsay, her parents Ida and Gordon Loach and her brother Tommy Loach. Left to mourn her passing are sons Terry (Janet) of North Bay & Robert (Sandy) Ramsay of Port Hope, and daughter Patti Ramsay- Coutie of Toronto. She also leaves her treasured grandchildren of whom she was so proud; Sarah and Alex Coutie of Toronto, Ian and Duncan Ramsay of North Bay and Carly and Gabriel Ramsay of Port Hope. Also surviving is her sister Marion (Ed) Rogers and her brother Ron Loach all of Kirkland Lake, brother-in-law Jack (Betty) of South Porcupine, beloved nieces and nephews and very dear friends Evelyn Martyn and Arvind Aggarwal of Kenogami. Betty was born and raised in Kirkland Lake. She received her education there and a teacher’s certificate in North Bay normal school, and a bachelor from Laurentian University. Her teaching was all in local schools, predominantly Queen Elizabeth School and at Swastika school until her retirement in 1988. She loved teaching and enjoyed so much meeting former students and following their careers and lives. She had good friends who shared her enthusiasm for bridge, quilting and rug hooking. Betty loved summers at the cottage and visits from her family and beloved grandchildren. Betty and Dave both had special feelings for Kenogami Lake and their cottage. They met out there in 1951 at a friend’s cottage and the rest is history. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Monette & French Funeral Home on Friday, September 25, 2009 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. & 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the "Teck-Hughes" Chapel of the Monette & French Funeral Home on Saturday, September 26, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. with Reverend Bob Weight officiating. Betty will be laid to rest in the Kirkland Lake Cemetery. Donation in memory of Betty may be made to the charity of your choice.Offer Condolence for the family of Betty Ramsay
