ARMSTRONG, Brian

1969 - 2023

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Brian Meredith Armstrong. Brian Meredith Armstrong died on his way home from work in the early hours of January 10th, 2023.

Brian was born in Kirkland Lake on August 18, 1969 to Merdy and Billie-Jean Armstrong.

Brian was predeceased by his great grand parents Hugh and Bella Armstrong of Cobalt and Archie and Jean Boyd of Kirkland Lake, his grand parents Hugh and Hazel Armstrong of Virginiatown and Bill and Andy Boyd of Timmins, as well as his uncles Richard Alfred Hugh Armstrong of Kirkland Lake and David Sydney Armstrong of Campbell River, BC.

Brian leaves behind his parents Merdy and Billie-Jean Armstrong, his brothers James Andrew(Shelly) of Talbot, TN and Hughie William of Kirkland Lake, as well as his aunt Patricia Armstrong of Virginiatown, his uncle Peter Andrew Boyd of Missisauga. Brian also leaves behind his nieces and nephews Jordan Armstrong of Ottawa, Taylor Armstrong(Summer) of Timmins, Nathan Armstrong(Ashley and Amelia) of Tennessee as well as his great nephew Grayson James Carman Armstrong of Timmins.

Brian also leaves behind his best friend Kim Villeneuve and he leaves behind his dog Bernard whom he adopted when his uncle Richard passed.

Brian was a fun loving guy who loved his family. He loved golf, hockey and slow pitch. His love of sports brought him many good friends. Brian had a great sense of humor and would always be cracking jokes. Brian had a number of jobs throughout his life but he always loved his mining. He enjoyed being a miner and was very skilled at it. Brian was well respected for his mining abilities by his co-workers.

Brian was instrumental in making sure his father Merdy got to and from his surgeries at the Ottawa Civic Hospital and the Ottawa Heart Institute.

Brian will be greatly missed by his surviving family and friends. Brian lived in many different parts of Canada such as the following; Virginiatown, Kirkland Lake, Chaput Hughes, Cobalt, Haileybury, Thompson, Manitoba, Port Radium NWT, and Cullaton Lake NWT.

Cremation has taken place. There will be a Memorial Service held for Brian in the summer of 2023.

Merdy, Billie-Jean and Family

I am deeply sorry for your loss. Brian was one of the good ones. We competed against each other since tykes. He was tough to play against, but was always the first one to come up to you in the spirit of sportsmanship after the game with a smile on his face and a quick joke. I always enjoyed running into him at the golf course in the summers. Rest in Peace, Army.
