The family of Clarissa McDermott announces with great sorrow her passing at Extendicare Kirkland Lake on Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at the age of 92 years. She was predeceased by her husband Leslie McDermott (1985); parents Albert and Rena Shepherdson; brother Lloyd; sisters Mildred (Joseph) Conway and Mary Shepherdson; brother in law Edwin McDermott and sister in law Marion Anderson (Harry). Clarissa will be remembered by her sons Wallace (Claudia) McDermott of Newcastle and Douglas (Marlene) McDermott of Schumacher. She was a dear grandmother of Shawn (Tanya) McDermott, Keri (Besim) Faris, Tim (Nathalie) McDermott and Farrah (Neil) Soriano; great grandmother of Nathan, Samantha, Charlize, Keilenna and Cierra. Clarissa is survived by her brother Wellington (Elizabeth) Sherperdson of Syndey, N.S. and sisters in law Hazel (Aubrey) Best of Kirkland Lake and Grace McDermott of St. Catharines. She is also survived by her longtime friend Verda Roche and several nieces and nephews. The focal point of Clarissa’s life was her sons and their families. They were her greatest joy and she theirs. The family would like to thank all of the staff of the Extendicare Kirkland Lake for the loving care provided to Clarissa over the years. A family memorial service to commemorate her life will be held at a later date. Clarissa will be laid to rest in the family plot of the Kirkland Lake Cemetery.
