AMES, Colette

The family announces with great sorrow the passing of Colette Ames (née Cloutier) at the age of 89. Born in Montbeillard, QC, she passed peacefully at Teck Pioneer Residence in Kirkland Lake on Monday, June 26, 2023.

Predeceased by her beloved husband, Frank Ames, and her parents Albertine and Emile Cloutier. Colette was the loving and cherished mother of Robert Jobson, Susan (Monty) Wood, Lilianne Jobson, Wayne Jobson, Kelly-Lee (Robert) Jobson, Randy (Allison) Jobson, Jenny (Derrick) Jobson-Butt, Dianne (Glenn) Snell and stepmother to Lynn Mansfield, Frank Ames Jr. (deceased) and Rhonda (Paul) Chevrier. She is survived by one brother, Frank (Monique) Cloutier.

Colette was a proud matriarch to her huge family including 38 grandchildren, over 50 great-grandchildren and many great-great-grandchildren. Baker and chef extraordinaire, Colette was the best hostess and would happily whip up a feast on a moment’s notice for any family get-together. She will be missed by all.

The family would like to thank the caring staff of Teck Pioneer Residence for 11 years of extraordinarily compassionate and quality care. Should you wish to make any donations in Colette’s memory, they would be gratefully accepted there.

The family will host a celebration of life on Thursday, August 17th from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Elk Lake Legion. Colette’s remains will be laid to rest alongside the love of her life, Frank Ames, in the Englehart Cemetery.

Oh Dianne, so sorry to hear about your mom’s passing but happy you got to spend some time with her. You will remember her smile and her laugh every day through the most ordinary things.
