Allaire, Dora Velma

ALLAIRE, Dora Velma

1938 - 2021

Dora Velma Allaire, age 83, passed away peacefully at Ville Marie Hospital in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Quebec on September 22, 2021, after a long battle with cancer. She was surrounded by loved ones; her 5 remaining children, her last remaining sister as well as Family and Friends. Dora was born July 06, 1938, in Notre-Dame-du-Nord, Quebec. She met and soon married Raymond Allaire, whose love for one another sparked a 53-year marriage; a love that has been reunited once again along with her beloved daughter Audrey Allaire.

Dora loved life and sharing that love she did so effortlessly with those she opened her heart to, and some, like Ida, she would call a best friend. Dora's love and relentless care for her children, right up to the end, was unwavering. Even despite her efforts to teach her kids the Native tradition of making Bannock. We just could not get the right fluffy texture or taste as awesome as hers.

You would often find Dora enjoying doing crafts, embroidery, and doing Word Search puzzlers, to keep her mind sharp. She also stayed informed by catching up on local and worldwide news which often included news from P.E.I. on the east coast. Dora was a big fan of Hockey Night in Canada and she loved to watch and cheer on her favourite team, "The Montreal Canadians". Dora enjoyed celebrating birthdays and special occasions with those close to her. A particular cheerful time would be birthdays which she often shared and celebrated with her youngest child, Lorne.

In her later years, Dora began to realize deep within her heart, she would need to make a serious decision of her own; a decision she did not want to burden her kids with. After a lifetime of caring for others, she felt it was time for someone to take care of her. She announced to the family that she was ready to be placed into the loving care of a nursing home. Funny thing is, she could have chosen a home closer to the town she lived in for decades. Instead, she chose to go, "Full Circle" and relocate back to her hometown of Notre-Dame-du-Nord, Quebec.

Dora was preceded in death by her loving husband, Raymond Allaire and precious daughter Audrey Allaire, her parents: Mother-Rose Marie Gabrielle McKenzie (Masinikijik), Father: George Walter Vincent McKenzie, her siblings: Eddie, Andrew, Millie, Thomas, Leta and Ralph. Dora is also survived by her sister, Melva Commando from Notre-Dame-du-Nord, Quebec, her 5 Children: Brenda Parcher (Steve) from Kirkland Lake, Ontario, Leroy Allaire from Timmins, Ontario, Richard Allaire (Christine) from Ottawa, Ontario, Darren Allaire (Theresa) from Kirkland Lake, Ontario and Lorne Allaire from Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island Her 8 Grandchildren: Lisa, Steve, Daniel, Melissa, Alex, Scott, Andrew and Jordan, her 8 Great Grandchildren: from Lisa you have Kaiden, Cianna, Tyesen, Kennedy and Haylee from Daniel you have Nicholas and Angele from Melissa you have Daphne.

Your mom was a real special lady. Lots of fond memories over the years with her from college days with Lorne, her 80th birthday ( and Lornes too ) a few years ago and up until our most recent visit in Notre Dame de Nord in September. Our thoughts and prayers for you all. Take care.

Sorry I could not make it to service today. Just finished playing hockey, put on Dora's favorite team "Montreal Canadians" jersey and scored a goal in honor of her. Take care
