1931 - 2022

The MacMillan family are sad to announce the passing of Gervan Eric MacMillan on December 26, 2022.

Eric will be missed dearly by his family and friends. Eric is survived by his loving wife Caroline MacMillan, his three children Ronnie Lalonde, Danny MacMillan (Tracy Gaudon), and Tracy Freitag (Dwayne Freitag). Eric is also survived by his sister Gladys Jylha, his grandchildren Deanna (Mike), Trina, Kristin, Sean and Taylor, as well as his great grandchildren Aiden, Mackenzie, Zachary, Patrick, Lexi and Walker. Eric is predeceased by his parents James and Mildred, his son Dean Lalonde, his granddaughter Erika MacMillan as well as 6 brothers and 6 sisters.

Eric was a family man, he loved his family more than anything. He especially loved his grandchildren with all his heart. Eric spent a great deal of his life working for the town as a long-time employee at the Kirkland Lake Cemetery. He will be missed by all that knew him.

As per Eric’s request, cremation has taken place. There will be a memorial service held January 7th at 1:00 p.m. at St. Peter’s Church. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations in Eric’s memory can be made to St. Peter’s Church.

Eric's Family

I worked with Eric one summer in the early 1970's at the Cemetery. I recall he was such a gentle, calm, patient and humourous man. Always quick with a little joke for the young guys that tryed to keep up with him. Fondly remember the lighting of the pipe without having to stop working. And he was always looking forward to Saturday at noon when we called it a week and he could go home to be with his family. It's been many years but Eric was a person who I remember as one of the good guys!

I just learned of Eric’s passing and was saddened to hear, I will always his quiet demeanour and his grin. Joe thought so much of him as an employee and I would always chuckle when he would call him “Pipe.”
