Menard, Gary "Grateful Gary"

MENARD, Gary "Grateful Gary"

1967 - 2023

In loving memory of Gary Richard Menard, born on June 5th, 1967 and departed this life on October 18th 2023.

He was preceded in death by his loving parents; Arthur and Tina Menard and brother Bob Menard. He leaves to cherish his memory one daughter, Hope Menard, sisters Alice Menard (David Cummings), Bonnie Menard (Wayne Stokes), brother Steven Menard (Joan Menard), and Dan Menard (Karen Menard), as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, loving relatives and friends. A joy to be in the presence of and a blessing to all the lives  of those who knew him. Grateful and bubbly, his sense of humor brought light to this world even through his toughest battle. Gary was an active member of his community and shared the love in his heart with everyone.  He enjoyed spending time in nature, kayaking, journaling his many beautiful thoughts and ideas and taking the time to appreciate all the little things in life.

Gary loved spending time with his daughter, friends and family and making the most of his weekends rocking on at cave jams with his cherished friends, sharing his talents with those who he valued and mattered most to him. Gary was a beautiful person who's radiant personality could have brightened even the dimmest of rooms. If love could have kept him alive, he would have lived forever.

The family would like to sincerely thank everyone for their support and love during this time. In lieu of flowers or donations, Gary would greatly appreciate for those who loved him to perform random acts of kindness whenever possible, and pay it forward.

A burial service will be held at kirkland lake cemetery on Monday October 23rd, 2023 at 1:00 pm. Anyone who was close to Gary is welcome to attend. The burial service will be followed by a celebration of life at the Royal Canadian Legion branch 87 in Kirkland Lake at 6:00 pm. Anyone is welcome to attend. Please wear bright colours to the celebration of life to commemorate Gary's lively personality and zest for life.

Hope, and Gary’s family

My deepest heart felt condolences to you all.
I have always held memories of Gary talking about Hope so close to my heart. He loved you with every ounce of his being. His words were always the sweetest, kindest, and so loving. You have always been, and forever will be, his universe.
It is a terrible tragedy to lose someone so full of life, who brought so much joy to so many ppl, and to life in general. I don’t have to tell you what a great person, and friend he was, you know better than anyone, but he will surely be missed by everyone who loves him. He always knew how to make your day better. And I will proudly admit on more than one occasion he had me laughing so hard, I almost peed my pants. First time he broke his Bubbles impression I thought my heart stopped bc I could not stop laughing. I don’t have one bad memory of Gary throughout all the years of being friends. He really was one of a kind, and I am so blessed to have had him as a friend. Rest easy my dear friend, thank you for all the great times and laughs, until we meet again.

Deepest Sympathy to the Family in the loss of Gary, I personally didn't know him well, but we always said hello to one another. He was a GREAT friend to my nephews Hughie and Mike (Bubba), and will certainly be missed by all who new and loved him. Gary and Hughie are together once again. So sorry to the Family and Friends loss.

Hope & the Menard family

Our deepest condolences go out to you all at this sorrowful time. I prayed that Gary had more precious time with those he loved and those who loved him, but his kind, sweet soul was needed much more, to brighten up the world, somewhere else. Rest easy Gary, know that you were truly loved by all

My heartfelt condolences. I went to high school with Gary. Some of the hardest laughs I ever experienced were with that fella. A true and eternal gem.

His daughter and family

My favourite memory of Gary was when he used to sit in the restaurant I worked at and correct the local newspaper with red ink to hand back to the editor so they could get better at spelling, grammar, punctuation and well...editing. Since then I've enjoyed his Grateful Gary posts and love that he spread so much hope and light in this world. I know he loved his daughter with his whole heart and I'm sure he will be missed by her and my heart goes out to her most of all. Its hard to lose a dad.
RIP Gary. You'll be missed. And every time I do a random act of kindness, I'll think of you. Rest easy.
