CONNELLY, Helen

1941 - 2021

Mrs. Rose Helen Connelly (Née Loach), lovingly known as “Grams” to many, was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, daughter and friend. She left this world suddenly on September 7, 2021 at the age of 80.

Helen was born in New Liskeard, Ontario on March 18, 1941, to Bertha and Alma Loach. She was the baby sister to five siblings, Lawrence, Evelyn, Agnes, Albert and Glenn. She also had 16 brothers and sisters-in-law who cared for her deeply over the years. Helen was predeceased by her parents, brothers, Lawrence and Albert, sisters, Evelyn and Agnes, husband, Bob and youngest son, Lee.

Helen is survived by her brother, Glenn, and her three children, Lynn (Terry), Brian, Brent (Cathy), six grandchildren, Kristen (Serge), Justin (Angela), Keanna (Matthew), Brody, Cassidy and Riley, honorary grandchildren, Véronique (Jaycee) and Geneviève Labonté, and nine great grandchildren, Sophie, Annie, Finley, Valerie, Noah, Max, Jake, Katherine and Luke.

Helen graduated from New Liskeard High School in 1959. Through the years she worked at Connelly Motors and the Credit Union and enjoyed a full-time career of homemaking and supporting Bob with his hobbies of farming and repairing bull dozers.  While all this kept her very busy, her children always knew they were her passion.

Helen lived close to 65 years in Harley Township where she was surrounded by family and friendly neighbours. She enjoyed travelling across Canada and the United States in her 5th Wheel with her husband, knitting and sewing for new babies, walks and chats with close friends and sharing Tim Hortons coffee with her son Brian. She cherished time spent with loved ones, most especially visits and phone calls from her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She will be remembered as someone with a heart of pure gold and those missing her take solace in knowing she is now at peace reuniting with her son and husband of 48 years.

A graveside funeral service and burial will be held at the Harley Township Cemetery on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. Pastor George Paraskevopoulos will officiate. Pallbearers will be Terry and Justin McNaughton, Brody Connelly, Matthew Veley, Rick Watson, Chris Loach. Memories/tributes will be shared by Kristen Doucet, Tom Connelly and Francoise Lajoie.

Although I was only an honorary grandchild of grams for a few short years she was an amazing woman, and I will cherish every memory I have with her. She really did have a heart of gold and love for everyone she met. She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered.

The entire family

My memories of Aunt Helen are few, but those few are mighty. From visiting as a child and having her hugs, to having her visit my home as an adult and even taking the time to visit when my own daughter was born, every visit is a bright one. She meant a great deal to my own mother, who is saddened at her passing as well. You're all in my thoughts and I send so many hugs your way. The earth has dimmed with her loss, but heaven will be brighter with her presence.

Helen Connelly's Family and friends

Aunt Helen was one of my favourite ladies. Always with a smile, she managed any and all situations with love and tenderness. Several of the traits the Loaches are well known for. I've always felt blessed for knowing her.
