1930 - 2023

The family announces with great sorrow the passing of Jean Mack (née Carswell) at the young age of 92. With family by her side, she passed away peacefully on June 27th at the Kirkland District Hospital.

Predeceased by her husband, John Mack, her parents, Lilian and John Carswell, and her twin brother, Jack (Sonny) Carswell.

Jean was the loving and cherished mother of Bob Mack (Laurie) and Tracy French (Al).

She will be forever remembered and deeply missed by her grandchildren Natasha (Dino), Tanya (Daniel), Jennifer (Sean), and Courtney (Adam), and her great-grandchildren Mikhayla, Mackenzie, Vincent, Caroline, Cael, Bode, Chace, Cameron, and Ben.

Jean will be deeply missed by her lifelong best friend and travel partner, Annice Tilley.

Jean was a beautiful person inside and out. She cared deeply for her family and community and impacted so many lives.

She had a strong faith and attended Crossings Community Church for many years.

Jean had many passions, including playing cards and having dinner parties with her friends, attending to her garden, volunteering, attending church, and travelling.

We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the staff of the Kirkland District Hospital, who helped us with their support and extraordinary care. We would also like to thank both Dr. Kurki and Dr. Kearon.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be mailed directly to Crossings Community Church (29 Tweedsmuir Road, Kirkland Lake, ON P2N 3M5 - biccommunitychurch@gmail.com).

The family will welcome friends at the Timiskaming Funeral Cooperative, 111 Burnside Drive, Kirkland Lake on Monday July 3, 2023 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. followed by a funeral service in the chapel of the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. At the conclusion of the service, all are invited to remain for refreshments and to continue celebrating Jean’s life
