Bradt, Jeannine

BRADT, Jeannine

1942 - 2024

Jeannine Georgette Bradt passed away peacefully at Tech Pioneer Residence in Kirkland Lake on Thursday, January 25th 2024, at the age of 81. Beloved wife of the late Harold "Nick” Bradt. Loving mother of Ilene Cassidy (Bill), Amanda Moreau (Tom), and Roy Bradt (Anne). Cherished grandmother of Michael Cassidy (Jessica), Steven Cassidy, Sarah Smith (Larry), Rebecca Henderson, and Shauna Bradt. Great grandmother of Hunter and Hudson Smith, and Iris and Jasmine Cassidy. She is predeceased by her parents Marie Ange and Jules Roberge and her sibling Aline Mantha.

Jeannine worked as a cook in many restaurants over the years and ended her career working at the Englehart and District Hospital as a cook and in housekeeping. She was known for being an amazing cook. She always had a welcoming smile on her face, and you never left her house with an empty stomach. She was always planning the next meal for her family.

Jeannine was always happiest when surrounded by her family. She took pride in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, giving them love and support in accomplishments both great and small. Her room at Tech Pioneer was filled with drawings and coloring from the kids. She especially loved making Snapchat videos with the kids. The card game Skip-bo was an evening favourite with the family. She enjoyed making lunches for Sarah and Becca in elementary school. The girls’ friends often asked if she could make their lunches, too.

Jeannine’s authenticity is what drew people toward her. Her voracious laugh, coupled with her unparalleled sense of humour, is what she will be remembered for most by her friends and workmates. She made working the early shift a delight and something to look forward to in the dark days of winter. Her family often delighted in her use of wrong words often calling a Palomino horse a ‘jalapeño’, telling the family to ‘close the lights’, and, when giving a lesson on kneading the dough, she explained to ‘push the dough toward you and pull away from you’. The room was always warmer and the light always brighter when Jean was around.

Jeannine’s family would like to thank the amazing staff of Tech Pioneer Residence for their care and compassion they showed towards her and her family during her time there.

As per Jeannine’s wishes, there will be no funeral.

Cremation has already taken place. The family will have a memorial in the summer. Details to follow at a later date. Donations in Jeannine’s name to Tech Pioneer Residence Activity Fund (145 A Government Road East, Kirkland Lake, ON P2N 3P4). would be greatly appreciated.

I am very sorry to hear of your Mom's passing. I remember her being a bundle of energy and a happy face. Whenever I think of her I always harken back to her calling Ilene in for dinner from the clothes line door. I offer my sincerest condolences

Jeannie was a ray of sunshine with a wonderful sense of humor. She was always caring for us while she worked at EDH. Bringing us tea and goodies when we were busy with no time to stop for a break. Many memories of a very fine lady! May she RIP

Such a lovely lady. We had many laughs during meal times. Making her giggle was a highlight of my day. She was always watching and waiting to see what my performance was going to be.
Rest well my lovelie
