The Poritts and the Croteau’s grew up in Dobie. I remember chumming around with Jack for several years. Even then he could tell stories. Those were carefree years. I do remember Leona but Marg I don’t recall. To his wonderful family my wife Pat and I offer our sincere condolences. Gary and Pat Croteau

They were Leafs and Jays watching buddies xo I will miss seeing you everyday, sitting outside your room and saying our daily greeting which always ended in laughter. Jack and my family were neighbours at Pollock. Without his support and friendship, I never would have been able to leave KL for school or work at LLPS that year after graduation. I adored the hours spent sitting on the front steps, sharing stories, learning from his years of experience, along with the joys and challenges that came with having younger children. There was an unspoken understanding that on a particular day of the week, at a certain hour, whatever conversations there might have been, all ceased, and into our respective homes we would go, only to emerge 30 minutes later to talk about the show we had just watched. I remember fondly our days of volunteering at our daughters’ JK computer class. He stayed near for me to whisper instructions, but he could double click. He was there. That’s what counted. When my puppy died, he shed a tear. He was adored by our parents. His home was as open to my children as ours was to Kimberly. In many ways we parented together. It just kind of worked out that way. It was to the point that asking to get our children off the bus need not be asked. He was always just ready to support us in our days as young parents getting a start on our careers. Words will never express how much Jack meant to me. He had a heart of gold. Oh sure he could be a grumpy gus on occasion but it was nothing that a little teasing couldn’t fix. I know how deeply he loved Kimberly and it was obvious how much he cared for my two. Thank you Jack for being you. You were kind, generous of yourself, and you will be deeply missed. With all our love, the Guild family.
