Marilyn Kossatkine,

MARILYN KOSSATKINE,

2021

Kossatkine, Marilyn (nee Sayer): It is with fond memories that we announce the passing of Marilyn Kossatkine at the age of 78. Her courage, strength, wit, and sense of humour followed her to her last days and will always be treasured by her family. She passed peacefully surrounded by the love of her family December 24, 2018. Her husband, Igor Kossatkine is left to mourn, along with her children, Kyle (Stacey) Sayer and Dianne Quinn. She also leaves her grandchildren, Matthew (Rox-Anne), Randi, Emmett (Leah), Maggie and her great grandson Renji. Igor’s children Tania (Joe), Andrei (Josie) and grandchildren Jordan, Erica and Lara are also left to mourn her passing. She is survived by her siblings Barb (Eric) Halpin, Beverly, Donald, and Kevin (Shirley) Ford along with her nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Jim and Margaret Ford and husband of 38 years, Donald James Sayer. Marilyn was born in Toronto, Ontario but lived most of her life, including raising her children, in Dobie. She had numerous good times and great stories to share about her life there. Until her retirement, in 2001, Marilyn spent her life’s work at the Northern News where she valued her time and many great friendships. Upon retirement, it was the snowbird life for her!! She and Igor spent the winter months in Dunedin, Florida. This is when life began! They lived life there to the fullest and cherished the many wonderful friendships made there. Stories of the winter fun were often not shared until their return to Kirkland Lake as she and Igor could often not be reached by phone. They were always off on some adventure or over at the neighbours enjoying the sun. Marilyn also loved time spent walking in the bush with her fur babies, Bella and Drake. Her family will celebrate her life as an amazing mother, grandmother, wife, sister and friend at the time of her spring interment. Marilyn’s family would like to thank the nursing staff at the Kirkland and District Hospital. These women went above and beyond to ensure Marilyn was comfortable and happy during her brief stay with them. Thank you also to Dr. Scott Young, Dr. Julie Bowen (Sudbury Cancer Center), Dr. Jordan, Dr. Spiller and Dr. Petrariu. Your kindness and professionalism will never be forgotten and always appreciated. Any donations in memory of Marilyn can be made to the Kirkland District Hospital Palliative Care Unit (145 Government Rd. E., Suite 309, Kirkland Lake, ON P2N 3P4). (Please mail cheques to this address). Offer Condolence for the family of Marilyn Kossatkine

Kyle, Diane and Family, Your mom was the best. Whether I was dealing with her with pleasure at NDN for many years, or she was keeping us in line as an awesome hostess and chaperone at the countless parties and sleepovers we used to have in Dobie???? Its no wonder you have become such good and awesome people…Cheers to Marilyn R.I.P.

My days at the Northern Daily News back in the 80’s were never dull working closely with Marilyn. She had a great sense of humour and everyone around her was a better person because of her. Her love of her family was first and foremost at all times. I always enjoyed catching up with Marilyn when we happened to cross paths over the years. Igor, Kyle, Dianne and family, keep your memories close and they will help you through this difficult time.
