Carol Ann, Merhar

1939 - 2021

"We are each of us Angels with only one wing, and we can only fly by embracing one another"
It is with great sorrow that we celebrate the Journey's End and the Arrival Home of Carol Ann Merhar on September 29th, 2021.
Daughter, Sister, Wife, Mother, Gram and beloved GG, she wore many titles with adoration, love and pride.
After a courageous and brave battle, Carol returned home, bid "Farewell for Now" by her children at her side. Carol would have been greeted at the gates by her husband of 48 years, Joseph Merhar.
Remaining here to celebrate this remarkable woman's life are her children Chris Merhar and Leslie Merhar with Husband Tony Ward, her Grandchildren Corey Gaston and his wife Michelle, and Kristin Newman and her Husband Kyle as well as Scott Merhar and Step Grandchild Tiarra Ward.
Her memory will be treasured forever by her Great-Grandchildren Kelly, Samantha, Kaydence and Cassandra. Remembered lovingly by her sister, Helen Sutton and her recently passed husband, Ken. Missed dearly by family, friends and companion, Keith McMillan.
Unfortunately due to Covid restrictions, Carol's official Celebration of Life will be an intimate, by invitation only gathering.
In lieu of flowers a donation to the Kirkland and District Hospital (Blanche River Health) would be much appreciated.
We will continue to celebrate this incredible woman's life, not just today...but always.

Carol's family and Keith

My sister Paula, who just passed away on September 23rd, was a good friend of Carol for many years. Carol enjoyed going to the Encore Club with Keith to listen to him singing karaoke as well as other singers, including Paula. Rest in peace Carol.

I express my condolences to the Merhar Family. I had the pleasure of interacting with Carol at Northern College - Kirkland Lake Campus. Carol spent many years in the front office utilizing her skills in support and assigned administrative duties with much determined dedication and professionalism.

May you take comfort in knowing she was well respected.

My deepest condolences for your recent loss. It is hard to believe that more than 70 years have passed since we as pre teenagers played childhood games ( Red rover, Hide & seek , Cowboys and Indians) with many others in the neighborhood. In audulthood our pathes intersected with 30 years as co workers at Northern. Rest In Peace my friend. Til we meet again. Ralph Berlingeri

Chris, Leslie and Families

Please accept my sincere condolences at the loss of your matriarch, my Aunt Carol. Extended families grow apart over the years, so my memories are not very recent. It has been a while since I visited with Aunt Carol and I wish I could say otherwise.

However, I will always remember her as a force to be reckoned with ... strong, assertive and fiercely protective of her children.

You were loved and you can cherish that.

The Family

I entered NCAAT college at age: 40 with a 7yr old child, as a lone mom on disability. I was shy, terrified, ashamed. Carol put me at ease. She inspired me by telling me I inspired 2 age genres: youth, middle age.. by never giving up, by trying twice as hard, longer. I graduated just shy of turning age: 43. I accomplished so much.. gradiated with high honors, made the Dean List, and won a $10k Bursary. I had to prove Carol right. I had to show her.. that her confidence in me, her encouragement.. became pillars of strength for me. Until my last breath, I will remember Carol for giving me my wings to fly.. because she believed in me. Donna S.
