ROBERTS, Michael "Mike"

1941 - 2021

The family is sad to announce the passing of Michael “Mike” Roberts on
Saturday, March 6, 2021 after a short struggle with a sudden illness. A beloved father, step father, husband, brother, grandfather and a friend to many.
Mike was loved and will be greatly missed by his son Mike Roberts and daughter Corrine Roberts. He was a great influence in the raising of nine step children and in the lives of their spouses and children. He is also survived by his spouse Lindalee Roberts (nee Rogers) and his brothers Richard “Dick” Roberts (Theresa) and John “Joe” Gourley (late Joanne). Predeceased by his spouses Ann Roberts (nee McTaggart) and Ivy Roberts (nee Jobson) as well as his brothers Karl Roberts and Bill Gourley.
Mike was a lifelong resident of Kirkland Lake and touched the lives of hundreds of students during his thirty plus year career teaching in Kirkland Lake. He was able to enjoy a long retirement travelling and wintering in South Padre Island, Texas. He loved spending his summers at home in Kirkland Lake and the surrounding blueberry patches as he self identified as the “King of the Blueberries”.
Due to current Covid 19 restrictions, a Celebration of Life will be planned at a future date.

Mike's days were filled with writing stories and poetry, and crossword puzzles, accompanied by an eclectic range of music genres. His collections of both coins and hockey sweaters were extensive. Travel, and specifically the exploration of airplane museums was a source of joy for him. But the focal point of his life was his love for his family. He will be missed by many.

Mike will be missed immensely. He was the best writer - in stories and letters. I will miss his great sense of humour and how easily he laughed. He was also a good listener and very compassionate. I am a better person for having known him.

Lots of fond memories of Mike. Lots of stories, both written and told. He made me laugh! My best memories were our summer "Breakfast Club" in Fenelon Falls, Coboconk, and Ridgetown and of course SPI. I was amazed by his hockey jersey collection...Detroit & Boston of course. Did I see something from Russia as well. He enjoyed those treasures. Each had a story.
Mike will be missed.

The Roberts Family

We are very sorry to hear of Mike’s death. We attended high school at the same time and were part of the many who had the great fortune to grow up in KL at such an interesting time! We also taught at KLCVI together and I know the great bond he had with his students -a caring
and considerate teacher ! He had a wonderful sense of humour and was always so interesting to have a conversation with. He leaves behind many great memories! I will always remember those many team jerseys. Our condolences-Brian and Gale Hamilton

So sorry to hear of Mike's passing. He was a character.........with a great strength of character, philosopher/teacher. Mike was very helpful to me in the early years of teaching at Queen E school and a wonderful friend. I am forever thankful to you Mike! Rest in peace.

Michael, I’m sorry for the passing of your dad. I would be your niece on your mom’s side of the family. I just found the McTaggart’s as my mom was given away at birth by your mom Ann. I would like to connect with you. Melissa
