In Loving Memory of Monica Tailleur
December 16, 1955 - June 2, 2025
With profound sorrow, we share the passing of our beloved mother, Monica Tailleur, who left us far too soon after a brief, but fierce, battle with cancer.
For over 45 years, Mom has been a force in The North, a life-long business woman feeding neighbors who became friends, and giving kids their first jobs, originally at Butler Lake Truck Stop, and then at Kenogami’s Kitchen. She and her youngest daughter, Tracy, worked side by side, filling both restaurants with the smell of fresh baking and her award-winning butter tarts. Strong and independent, Mom had a soft spot for animals and giving back to the community. She was the first to cook a few turkeys or donate dozens of tarts if that’s what was needed. More rescue dogs passed through her door than we can count, and while she called herself a foster, we knew better—none ever left. Fostering was the only thing Mom ever failed at. Her beloved pups Minnie, Choker, and Max remain to remind us of how she loved them all.
Mom was predeceased by her Mother and Father, Marguerite (Moore) and Robert Tailleur, sister in law Deborah Tailleur and stepson Daryl Godmaire. Oscar, Digby, Dakota, Felix, Munica, Angel, Frisco and Poncho are but a few of the doggos who crossed the rainbow bridge before her. She leaves to mourn her devoted daughters, Kimberly and Tracy Crozier, her cherished granddaughter Haily Crozier, and third husband, Fern Godmaire. Brothers Robert and Ronald Tailleur, sister Sandra Laprise and brother in law Michel. Doting niece Heidi Tailleur, nephews Eric and Robbie Tailleur, and nephews Michel and Mark Laprise.
She showed us how to work hard, be strong, how to laugh, and how to love with our whole hearts. We will miss her sharp wit, her endless sarcasm, and her giant smile more than words can ever say.
She wanted to thank all her customers for their years of support, and to let you know she’ll keep the coffee on, but you’ll have to pour your own as she’s finally taking a break. The family wishes to thank all the employees at the Kirkland and District Hospital for their compassionate care.

A Celebration of Life is scheduled at Kenogami’s Kitchen, July 19th , 2025, from 1pm to 3pm.

She has a amazing boss, and the strongest woman I ever met - she never knew it and I wish I would have told her but something she said to me at work one day changed my life-

My heartfelt sympathy to you Ron and all Monica's family members. I do remember meeting Monica at Butler Truck Stop and definitely enjoyed every meal and, especially the desserts, she prepared.

Was always enjoyable at the kitchen for our Sunday morning breakfasts.. ohhhh so good. Always enjoyed the cooking and the camaraderie amongst staff and patrons . Rest peacefully.
I love Monica so much, she kindled the flame of passion I have for cooking great food for family and friends. I remember partying into the wee hours of the morning with Kim and Tracey one night. Needless to say when Monica came to pick me up for work at the crack of dawn, I was oblivious to the world. She crawled through my kitchen window and dragged me to the restaurant. I was in no condition to learn or be of ANY use to her so in true Monica fashion, she put me to work cleaning the grease trap !! I learned a valuable lesson that day and went on to work many a shifts under her care and guidance. She taught me the love of preparing great food, serving customers and feeding family and friends. She will be sorely missed. Love and prayers for the family. ️

So sorry for your loss, Monica was such a great lady, always smiling and happy. Going to Kenogami Kitchen for breakfast was great and then had lunches there. She will be missed and my heart goes out to the family.

Our sincere condolences to Fernand and Monica's family. She was an amazing woman who devoted her life to make people happy with her extraordinary cooking. She followed in her mom's footsteps. We certainly will miss her smile and heartwarming greetings. Rest in peace Monica, you certainly deserve it.
I am so so sorry for your loss. My family and I will miss Monica's presence, smile when we stopped by the Kenogami Kitchen. She was a talented cook, a hardworking business person & she made the tastiest butter tarts. My deepest condolences to you all.
Deepest sympathies to the family. The Butler Lake Truck stop, was the best. Very popular with the cottagers at Butler Lake. But we knew she was not far from us, Kenogami great food as always. RIP Monica
My sister (Paula Burdick from Wavell) and I had many lunches and snacks at Butler Lake Truck stop over the years. Monica was always so kind to us and we enjoyed anything she served. We are long gone from the area but still remember her kindness. Our sympathy on her loss.

I’m so sorry to hear that Monica has passed. She was the one that gave me my very first job at Butler Lake truck Stop and will always be appreciative of that. I still remember going in for the 7am shift and the smell of the cinnamon buns she was taking out of the oven was amazing. Her sarcasm always kept me on my toes, and I loved it. She was one hell of a hard working woman! She will be so missed by all.
and the pies! oh the pies! i remember when a bear broke into the butler lake location and ate all her pies. RIP Monica.
So sorry for your loss. She has always been a hard worker and very generous. Kenogami Kitchen has donated many times different types of desserts to our snowmobile clubs stop and shops and other peoples/ clubs fundraisers too . . Also had top notch food and dessert since my first stop at Butler Lake in 1986 . Condolences to all of her family and friends .

Monica, l never really thought of ever having to say goodbye to you as you were such a force of nature, of life and as I'm sure you will be in death. Wish I could have visited with you before saying goodbye but I guess God needed you in his kingdom before I could. I will continue to think of you as I always have. You are one of the most beautiful people I have ever met and no doubt will ever meet. The heavens will be a great place with you. There you will make everybody smile and laugh as you did on Earth.
