POLONI-GROULX, Pauline (Paula)

1944 - 2021

The family announces with great sorrow, her peaceful passing in Sudbury on Thursday, September 23, 2021, at the age of 77 years.

Predeceased by her husband Tony. Daughter of the late Annette and the late Aldege. Loving mother of Laurier and John (Lisa).

Cherished sister of Rejean (Judy), Anita, Yvette and Aline (Robert). Predeceased by her sisters Dolorese and Mignonne. Loving grandmother of Joshua, Macy, Tori, Jeremy, Quintin, Jordan, Alec and Nicholas in addition to several great-grandchildren.

Born in the town of Cheminis and life-long resident of Kirkland Lake, she enjoyed travelling, singing, evening drives, gathering with family and friends. She rarely turned down a good campfire.

She will be remembered by many as a very kind and compassionate person who was quick to help others. The light of her life will be cherished by all who knew and loved her. To know Paula was to be inspired to become a better person.

A service to celebrate Paula’s life will be held at a later date. For those who wish and in lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in her memory to the Down Syndrome Association of Sudbury
( info@dsas.ca) or the Advocates for Northern Animals (3 Dunfield Road, Kirkland Lake, Ontario, P2N 1P4).

Paula was my mothers best friend. I remember ( as a kid), the peels of laughter coming from what ever room they were in . Through the years , they remained good friends , no matter the distance that seperated them .
I remember Paula as an elegant , always beautifully put together woman who smiled all the time and made us kids feel valued.
Thank you Paula
May you find your loved ones in the great beyond . That will be a party indeed!

The family of Paula.

I would like to send my sincere condolences to all of her family. I only knew Paula for a short 16 months. We grew to be very good friends. I thought of and spoke highly of Paula. A lady that would never stop. Always had great ideas. Loved to be outside gardening and looking after her back yard. I know that she has touched the lives of everyone that she met. She has touched my life greatly. I will always remember Paula as she was. She will be missed by everyone that she has met. And most of all her family. Will miss you always Paula. I know you are resting in Peace.

Sad to hear of Paula’s passing. Will always remember when I would make that reservation at the Don Lou and she always kept and knew my little spot every time I dined there. Always greeted me with a smile and she was elegantly dressed with style. You will be missed Paula and I know Tony and you are now together again. Rest In Peace Paula.

Yvette Groulx

Just a few things to add and clarify Paula's obituary.
- She passed away, after a short battle with cancer, at the Sudbury Hospital, with her two sons by her side.
- She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

She and her late husband Tony operated the Don-Lou Motor Inn for many years. She always decorated the dining room, bar and lobby so beautifully, according to all yearly special occasions. She always had fresh flowers in a vase at the front desk during the summer months.

Her passion during the past several years was to sing karaoke country songs with her sisters at the Encore Club and Polish Hall. She loved dancing and meeting with friends. She was a member of the Encore Club and became a Board Member this year. She also enjoyed travelling, Sunday morning drives, gardening, sitting by a campfire and walking in the woods and by a lake with her dog Emma (now deceased).

As per her wishes, she has been cremated and will be interred in one of the Groulx family plots at KL Cemetery at a later date in order to celebrate her life.
