Rick CharetteApril 8th, 1956 – October 29th, 2015It is with extremely heavy hearts, the family of Rick Charette announces his untimely passing surrounded by loving family on October 29th, 2015 at the age of 59 at Health Sciences North in Sudbury, Ontario. Rick was predeceased by his mother Rodena (nee MacAskill) and brother Randy. Rick is survived by his loving daughters Beth Charette and Katie (Andre) Demore, his father Ruben and step-mother Lila Charette, sister Debbie (Rheal) Roy, brother Dean (Chantal), step-sisters Charlene (Rick) Owen, Donna (Stewart) Marshall and step-brother Peter (Debbie) Kilian, grandson Brody Marz and granddaughter Darcie Demore and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.Rick was a wonderful father to his 2 daughters. He was also a wonderful grandfather to his 2 grandchildren who knew him as “Papa” and was also fondly known as “Papa Rick” to many other children. He enjoyed spending his time with family and friends and helping them out whenever he could. He often spent time with his brother-in-law Rheal at his garage, having a coffee with the boys at Tim Horton’s, listening to music at home or singing up a storm “yodelling”. He spent the last couple of years piecing together his project purple truck and had plans to have it road worthy soon.Rick worked at the Adams Mine from 1979 until its closure in 1990. He later went on to work as a salesman at Pinewood Park Motors, drove snow plow on our northern highways, transport trucks all over the country but spent his final years driving school bus.Rick was a social butterfly and somehow knew someone every where he went and always had time for a chat. His outgoing character made it easy for him to make friends out of new acquaintances. Our world was a far better place because our Dad was in it. He will be missed by so many. The family will welcome friends at the FRENCH FAMILY FUNERAL HOME (111 Burnside Drive, Kirkland Lake, ON., P2N 3L1) on Friday, November 6, 2015 from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. A celebration of Life in Rick’s memory will follow on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at the Royal Canadian Legion from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or CJKL FM’s Christmas Wish would be greatly appreciated.Offer Condolence for the family of Richard “Rick” Brian Charette

I spent time with Rick in the 70’s, & he was always fun to be around! I moved away in the early 80’s, but we always took a moment to chat whenever I was home. I’ll miss seeing his smiling face! RIP Rick

Our condolences to friends and family. I knew Rick through the bus company. He taught Tracey how to drive a school bus, which has given her the confidence and skill to drive one of those big monsters in Ottawa traffic. He will be missed and is in our thoughts and prayers.
