McLean, Roland "Rolly"

MCLEAN, Roland "Rolly"

1947 - 2021

It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Roland (Rolly) McLean. Rolly passed away peacefully at home on Friday March 5th 2021 surrounded by his wife, children and grand-children at the age of 73.

Rolly is pre-deceased by his father Elphege McLean, mother Simone (nee Verrier) McLean, youngest brother Gilles McLean and brother-in-law Dennis Ede (Cheryl). Rolly is survived by his cherished wife, love of his life and best friend of 50 years Shirley (nee Ede) McLean, beloved daughter Leanne (son-in-law Joe), beloved son Bengie (daughter-in-law Lisa), cherished grand-daughter Sarah, cherished and partners in crime grandsons Cole and Hunter, beloved great grand-daughter Scarlett, brothers and sisters Leon (Noëlla), Moe (Anita), Andy (Carole), Bob (Rejeanne), Rémi (Janet), Aline, Fern, Denise (Ron) and 3 generations of cherished nieces and nephews.

Rolly was an active member of the Spanish Sables and Nairn Hyman township fire departments and had a combined 41 plus years of volunteer services. Rolly had an amazing zest for life and a tremendous sense of humour, he left a lasting impression on all those who knew him. Rolly was happiest surrounded by family and friends, working with his backhoe, working on MANY different projects in his garage and enjoying the view of the lake from his lazy-boy. Rolly was actively living his life right up to the very end and never did stop smiling despite the many health obstacles thrown at him. He was well known as part of the Sand Bay Camp family for over four decades and will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Papa, as his grandkids so lovingly called him was known for his colourful stories and being able to fix anything “If Papa can’t fix it, nobody can” the kids would always say. Rolly was extremely devoted to his family and he loved us unconditionally, we as his family know that his legacy will live on through many many campfire stories yet to come. Rolly has left an imprint that can be matched by no other and his wife, children and grand-children will miss that undeniable smile he always had, his non stop sense of humour and his ability to love like no other.

As per Rolly’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no formal funeral services, in lieu we will have a celebration of life (date to be determined) when the weather is warmer as Rolly would want it.
