MACDONALD, Roy

1933 - 2022

It is with profound sadness that we announce Roy’s passing on February 8, 2022, at Teck Pioneer Residence with family by his side. Roy was predeceased by his beloved wife Alice, his daughter Cheryl and his son Archie. He will be dearly missed by his loving children Faye, Tammy, Danny (Kelly); his cherished grandchildren Amanda, Tina (Lance) Harris, Ashley (Adam) Wojtus, Shana (Doug) Backer, Jarod and Jacob MacDonald; his daughter-in-law Marcella MacDonald; his great-grandchildren Jackson, Allyson, Amelia, Caelan and Liam; his great-great-grandchildren Nova and Soren as well as cousin Colin (Sandra) Campbell.

Roy served his country with honour in Korea and was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 87. He worked at Adam’s Mine from 1962 until his retirement in 1990. Roy enjoyed spending time outdoors, camping, fishing, hunting, and being with family. He kept his wit and humour until his final days and will be sadly missed by many.

The family would like to thank the staff at Teck Pioneer Residence and Blanche River Health Kirkland Lake Site for their loving care and kindness.

A private celebration of Roy’s life will take place at a later date.

If desired, donations in memory of Roy may be made to:

The MacDonald family

I am so saddened to learn of Roy’s passing. His many health issues made his past few years difficult for him but I’m sure the welcoming group up there was amazing!
Loss is always tough for everyone and hopefully your memories help fill the void his passing has created.
Sincere condolences to you all.

Both my wife and I were saddened to hear of Roy's passing and although most of your family will not know me, Roy and I have been good friends throughout the many years. The Hamdens and MacDonalds lived side by side on Chaput Avenue during our elementary school days so we shared many memorable times together so many years ago. R.I.P. Roy. Gord Hamden

Roy's children and Grandkids

I only knew Roy at work. I never got a chance to talk to him outside of work. He'd come in the welding shop on his security patrols, look at what I was doing, swallow, and ask how things were? And, I'd say, better if I was at the cottage! Very nice, soft-spoken man.
