Jo Ann and I would like to offer our deepest condolences on the tragic passing of Shane. I had the wonderful opportunity to work very closely with Shane on the Kemano T2 Project in British Columbia. Shane was very well respected and well liked by all of his team members and the Kemano management team as well. Shane and I would on numerous occasions on the way home would stop in the lounges at the airport and have a couple of beverages and have a number of good chuckles, as most people who knew Shane he loved to display his infectious laugh and enjoyed life. He left Kemano so he could be closer to home with Deb, the kids and grandchildren whom he spoke of with great fondness quite often. You will greatly be missed my friend may you rest in peace!

I was fortunate enough to become friends with Shane through baseball and hockey growing up. He was always the one we could silently count on to hit the clutch homer or rip one from the point when we needed it. He was a talented athlete, yet was always humble and sincere. He helped a “kid” from Larder Lake, feel welcome in a group of friends that I always thought were “too cool” for me to be in.

The shock and sadness I felt when I heard of Shane's passing is nothing compared to what you are feeling. I am truly sorry for your loss.
I didn't work with Shane long but I knew that he was a amazing guy. So much so that I felt comfortable talking to him about a whole assortment of topics. He worked with my brother and was my sons first supervisor and I was so happy about that. He was an amazing example of how to live and how to treat people.
I can see by his posts that he knew what the most important thing in life was....his family. I hope that knowing he was so well respected at every job or project he was part of brings some comfort. He was truly a great person.

Debra it is with a heavy heart that I am sending my condolences to you and your girls. It was just a short time ago that I was enjoying Shane's company, his humour, his laughter and of course his love of golf.
As with every year at Billy G's after one gets over all of the small talk and friendly teasing, conversation would steer to "so how is your family doing?" It was at this point that I would see Shane glowing as he would talk about you and his two beautiful girls. I teased him a few times about being a grandpa and he just laughed and said "It was awesome!"
Shane was a good natured, fun loving man who loved you, his two girls and his two grandchildren with all of his heart!

The outpouring of sympathy and support is small a sign of how much Shane was genuinely liked and respected. I have such great memories of tagging along to my brother & Shane's hockey games - all those great KL families - and, ok, all the trouble we kids would get into at tournaments (actually, some of the parents got into trouble too!). I also remember Shane from slo-pitch tournaments, especially that incredible summer I played with his in-laws. Mostly, I remember him smiling, laughing, and enjoying his time with friends and family.

I worked for the Redpath crew at Mussellwhite for 2 years with Shane and I can say I wish the rest of my career was as memorable.
