Cathy passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side after a brief battle with cancer.
She will be greatly missed her husband Jim of 58 years, and her three children: Hughie (Cathy), Ruthann (Glenn), Dale (Jim), and her cherished granddaughter Sara.
Cathy was the daughter of the late Ed and Pearl Kingshott of Bent River. She is survived by siblings; Eleanor Taylor, Terry Kingshott (Eileen), Brenda Hunt, Anne Reid, Carol Kingshott, Audrey Kingshott. Sister-in-law to Ellen (Milton) McPherson, Barb (Fred) Burrows and Anne Cragg all of Englehart. Cathy was predeceased by siblings, Verna, Syd, Ernie, Delbert, Rita, Maurice, Eddie, and Abby, in-laws Chester and Bernice Smith, brothers-in-law John Cragg, Harold and Neil Smith. She will be missed by her numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Cathy was a kind, compassionate, giving, and witty pillar in the community. She worked at the Windermere Garden Centre for close to 40 years and was active in the community. Earlier in life she was a brownie/girl guide and 4H leader and canvasser for the Heart & Stroke Foundation. Cathy was also a proud member of Muskoka Pioneer Association, Raymond Country Ladies and Hall and the Women’s Institute.
We would like to thank Dr. Adams, Dr. Jones, and team along with her nurse practitioner Christine Fitchett. To the nurses, Ruth and Cheryl, who gave her exceptional care in the hospital until we could get her home. To the Paramed nurses who came out when the time had come. Special thanks to Ashley Loader and Jenna Peacock for helping us keep her comfortable and to Cheryl Kinghan for your comfort and support.
Cremation has taken place and she’s got her smokin’ hot body. A Celebration of Cathy’s Life will be held at a later date.
For those who wish, and in lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Cathy may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society or to a charity of your choice.
