Fecteau, Salomée – It is with deep sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Solomée Fecteau (née Boudreault), at the age of 102 on May 22, 2022, at Extendicare in Kirkland Lake. Mme Fecteau is survived by her sister, Quétine Rochon, and her children, Cathy Retty (Neil Retty), Carole McLean, Lisette Meilleur (Normand Meilleur) and Lucien Fecteau and is predeceased by her daughter Dorothy Messier (Gerard Messier). She also leaves behind a tribe of many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
Throughout her life, it is without a doubt that grand maman touched the lives of everyone she met and everyone around her. She exhibited strength and tenacity (as evidenced by her long life!), unconditional generosity and kindness, and a heart of gold that truly made her feel one of a kind. She spent years volunteering and giving back to her French community in Kirkland Lake and was a proud member of la Paroisse Assomption, L’Ordre des Filles d’Isabelles, le Club 50+ and more. She enjoyed fishing and the outdoors and would have no problem bragging about her latest big catch. But most of all, she liked nothing more than to share her love through food and cooking, making many French-Canadian dishes to perfection – like her famous crêpes. She will be missed greatly but her love and spirit will live on, always.
The family would like to send a very special thanks to the staff of Extendicare Kirkland Lake for over 10 years of care and support. A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2022, at 10 am at la Paroisse Assomption, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 am. Donations in memory of Salomée can be made to la Paroisse Assomption.
