Nichol, William "Bill" - Avis de décès | Timiskaming Funeral Cooperative

Nichol, William "Bill"

NICHOL, William "Bill"

1963 - 2025

William "Bill" Nichol passed away at Health Sciences North ICU in Sudbury, Ontario on Wednesday, October 01 2025 with family at his side. He was 62 and a lifelong resident of the Kirkland Lake area.

Bill was born in Kirkland Lake to his parents, William and Helen (nee Stewart) Nichol (both pre-deceased). He attended school in Kirkland Lake.

Bill got the gold mining itch at an early age from his uncles on the Stewart side. He worked in mining off and on for most of his life most recently as a Mill Operator at Alamos Gold.

Bill loved to cook. He never followed a recipe and did everything by taste. He loved to use spices to cook and had a fondness for a lot of garlic as it "keeps ya healthly". We will all miss his homemade soups. Supper was often late because of his "low and slow" cooking!

Bill loved nature and was happiest at the family property in Tarzwell especially around the firepit. He loved all the different trees, many that his dad had planted many decades ago. He would teach us the names and what they look like and where they were located at our property. He was especially happy when our children and grandchildren visited and enjoyed the property at the lake.

Family was everything to Bill. He loved our kids and grandchildren and was very proud of them whatever they were doing. His heart was broken by the loss of his two nieces and then his sister. She was one of his best friends and it was more than his heart could handle.

Bill is survived by his loving spouse, Cathy Poupore, his daughter Karigan Nichol (fiance Josh Brown), his son Ellis Nichol, and Cathy's daughters Sara Lariviere (nee Morrow) (spouse RJ) and Thea Sangiuliano (fiance Ethan Russell). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Benjamin Lariviere, Connor Nichol, Avery Brown, Kaelyn Carpenter, Abby Lariviere and Ivy Brown who he loved with his whole heart. Also survived by his nephew Tyler Davis and great-nephew Caden Souriol, his mother-in-law, Dot Poupore (nee Simpkin), his sister-in-law Sherran Rooney (Dale) and his brother-in-law Mike Poupore. Bill is also survived by many wonderful cousins on both sides of his family along with his friends who he considered family. Bill had many great friends who left us too soon and he missed them greatly.

Our cats, Ronnie and Gidget are missing Bill's neck and ear scratches and his loving attention.

Bill is predeceased by his parents, William (1968) and Helen Nichol (2009), his sister Lorrie Souriol (2024) (Michael Barrette), his niece Tammy Souriol (2004), his niece Bobby-Ann Souriol (2022), his father-in-law Andy Poupore (2022) and also his grandparents and many aunts and uncles on both sides of the family.

We love you Bill & will miss you forever! Rest in Peace now. Fly high with the angels! Love you more xo
