MCLENAGHAN, Garry

2025

Garry McLenaghan

Garry passed away peacefully, Friday, May 30th, his family at his side, after his lengthy second battle with cancer.

Garry was predeceased by his parents William and Doris McLenaghan. He is survived by his beloved wife Diane. He will be sadly missed by his daughter Jennifer (Dana Clow), and his two cherished granddaughters Lily & Miranda. He was the brother-in-law to Martial Labonte, Louise (Wes Goddard), Francine (predeceased, Tony Johnston- surviving), Micheline Labonte, Lucette (predeceased, Claude Caza- surviving), many nieces, nephews and cousins, and many, many friends (especially Doug).

Despite training for his career in England, Garry grew up and spent most of his adulthood in Kirkland Lake. He loved dogs, cars, music, and spending time at the cottage in North Bay, eventually retiring there, with the love of his life Diane.

In his 35 years as Head of Physiotherapy at KLDH, he earned much gratitude from the many people he helped, as well as the respect and friendship of his colleagues. Garry’s quiet, steadfast kindness ran deep. He was a genuine, caring and honest man, who always made you feel at ease. His disarmingly casual sense of humour would always change the tone if things got too heavy, and he was never one to complain or ask for anything. He enjoyed the outdoors, a cold brew, and a job well done. His disability may have changed the road his life followed, but it never had the driver’s seat. He was knowledgeable, hard working, and independent almost to a fault. His sharp wit, compassion, and guidance will be forever missed.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate his life at Hillside Funeral Services in North Bay on Saturday, June 28th from 10:00 am until 11am, followed by a brief service and a luncheon.

In Lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Garry to a charity of your choice will be gratefully acknowledged by his family.

So sorry to hear of the loss of Gary.
Our friendship goes back 70+ years starting on Taylor Avenue.
He was a true friend who always kept in touch over the years.
He never had a bad word to say about anyone, a true gentleman through and through.

I fondly remember Gary coming up to K L t help my brother through rehab after he had suffered a stroke. Now that's a true friend!

I will miss our chats of the old days in Kirkland Lake, many a chuckle and good stories.

I will miss him. May he R I P

Dear Diane,
So sorry to read about Garry's passing. He was always such a kind and considerate fellow with patients and other staff at the hospital. I am sure you will miss him terribly. I remember him from way back at KDH. Those were the good old days.

Sorry for your loss Diane & family. I didn't know your husband or your daughter but I will never forget the excellent care my son Daren had in the KL hospital because of all the staff especially you et al.

Just to let you know it was my pleasure last year to be able to converse with a lady Jakki Jeff's CLC involved in pro-life that was well acquainted with Dorothy Carston. It's a small world.

We are very sorry to receive the sad news concerning Garry. He was always a kind, quiet, intelligent and likeable individual! We were so fortunate to have to have him as a Head of Physio at the hospital and as a citizen of KL. He will be missed!
