It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Germain B. Perron (Gerry) the family matriarch, at the age of 93 at Blanche River Health Hospital, Kirkland Lake site on April 25th,2025. She passed peacefully surrounded by family and friends. She is survived by her 2 children Rick Ames (Deb Bishop) and Kim Sharkey (Dean Sharkey), her grandchildren Keith Sharkey (Kristen Harper), Kyle Sharkey and Dilan Ames, great grandchildren Cali Ames and Kohen Sharkey. Also survived by 2 brothers, Rolly (Dino) Chouinard and Lou Chouinard. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews all of whom she loved dearly and loved her and showed that love by flocking to her bedside during her 11day hospital stay. Also present were her 2 brothers, sister-in- law, Sylvia, and family friends.
She was predeceased by her parents Charles and Marie Chouinard (nee Vallieres), her brother Paul Chouinard, sisters Cecile Guerin and Mignonne (Mickie) Cameron.
Gerry was born in Notre Dame du Nord, Quebec, then moved to Opasatika, Boston Creek then finally settling in Kirkland Lake where she remained and worked for most of her adult life. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to all. Her priority was family. She always thought of others first which was apparent by the generosity she showed throughout her entire life. She was known for her beautiful smile, infectious laugh and her quick wit and humour. She was loved by all who knew her and her positivity touched many lives along the way.
Our family would like to thank the staff of BRH (KL site) for making a difficult time at least somewhat bearable. To the medical staff Dr’s (Zheng, Moore and Kurki), the nursing staff, laboratory personnel, diagnostic imaging, kitchen staff … thank you so much for the personal attention you paid to our mother. You are all amazing at your jobs. We want you to know that your compassion and professionalism didn’t go unnoticed by my mother and our extended family.
As per Gerry’s wishes there will be no viewing or funeral. Family will get together at a later date to celebrate her life. Donation to the Autism Society would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
