JARGIELLO, Jerry
With great sorrow and broken hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved brother Jerry, on October 5, 2025 at the age of 72, at Extendicare Kirkland Lake.
He was predeceased by his loving parents John (Mike) Peter Jargiello (2003) and Margaret Edith Jargiello (nee Cright) (2022), his brother Jim (2022) and his grandparents Irene and Alfred Cright; and many aunts and uncles.
Jerry will be lovingly remembered by his siblings: Debra (Stan) Bernardo, Suzanne (Blucher) Jargiello, Michael; John (Helen); and his nieces and nephews Teena Kukkee, Gasper (Kristy) Bernardo Jr., Michael, Jeffrey (Michelle) and Maxx Cabrera, Sarah Jargiello and Aleesha (Emmanuel) Austin, Amber Kalliomaki, Trista (Ty) Wiley, great nephews and nieces: Emerson, Pyatt, Logan, Sophia, Grayson, Damion, Khloe, Landon, Jayden, Kali, Nyla, Eden, Emma, Jonathan Zane, Austin, Emily, Sofia Teresa and Nico; and many cousins, uncle and aunts.
Jerry was born in Hamilton, Ontario on June 23, 1953 to John and Margaret and welcomed by big brother Jim, later that year the family would move to Kirkland Lake. Where he would be followed by siblings Debra, John, Suzanne and Michael.
Jerry lived life by the beat of his own drum. In his early twenties he moved from Kirkland Lake and went to work out west in Williams Lake, BC for a few years.
Jerry faced a lot of adversity in his life and did not believe in giving up, while in Williams Lake he was involved in a very serious car accident and spent a few months in a Vancouver Hospital where the outlook for him to walk again was very slim. Our father went to Vancouver and had him transferred to Toronto General where he could be near family. There he spent another 6 months and then was brought home to Kirkland. Jerry spent almost one year in a body cast and during that time, resolved that he would defy the odds and he would learn to walk again and that he did. With the healing in the rearview mirror, he headed to Southern Ontario where he lived and worked for another few years. Returning to Kirkland Lake in his late thirties. Unfortunately, Jerry would be faced with adversity again and he would be stricken with Parkinsons in his early forties, yet he continued to persist and live his life to the fullest the best he could.
Although his body succumbed to the disease and the last few years of his life was spent mostly bedridden, Jerry never lost his sense of humour or his ability to insert his two cents of wisdom into every conversation. Despite not being in the same room we could always count on having a tidbit of information to share and we shall miss them always. Jerry loved spending time with family, playing cribbage, fishing and travelling to visit with friends and family. He enjoyed buying and working on cars but was most proud of his Trans Am and his boat.
We would like to acknowledge and thank all the PSW’s, Home and Community Care Support Services North East for all the care shown to Jerry both at home as well as getting into assisted living, and Temiskaming Home Support with assisted living. Kirkland Lake Fire Services, Paramedics, 1st Responders and Ambulance services, the staff at Extendicare and Blanche River Health Kirkland Lake site for your compassion. You were all a bright spot in Jerry’s life and brought him much joy. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all that you do.
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be planned for next summer.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Jerry’s memory can be made to Heart and Stroke or Parkinson Foundation.
