MCCARTHY, John (Jack)

1932 - 2021

McCarthy, John Joseph (Jack) Passed away after a brief illness on Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at the age of 88. Jack was born in Kirkland Lake on November 25, 1932, to James and Mary McCarthy (nee Folan). He is survived by his children Kevin (Bonnie), Tracy (Tim), and Sean. He also leaves behind his grandchildren Jesse McCarthy (Lindsay), Spencer Krueger (Mitch), and Taylor Krueger (Cody), and great-grandchildren Waylon McCarthy and Josie Jones. He is going to be missed by his sister and brothers-in-law, Myra McCarthy (Jimmy McCarthy deceased), George Rocks (Doreen), Wendy Wren (Ken), and Brian Topliss (Heather), as well as his many nieces and nephews. Jack was predeceased by the love of his life Marian (nee Rocks) in 2016 and his brothers Jimmy and Patrick. Dad was an amazing husband and father. He was devoted to his family and was one of the nicest people you could ever meet. Jack was a proud Irishman and loved being a Kirkland Laker. Special thanks to the team at TPR for taking such special care of Dad. A private family service and burial have already taken place with a celebration of life to be held at a later date. Any donations in Jack’s memory can be made to the Teck Pioneer Residence.

We are so sorry to receive the news of Jack’s death. What great neighbours he and Marian were for so many years. We can remember them giving us their wall papering expertise in our first home shortly after becoming their neighbours. Surprisingly it turned out very well!
