Sasseville, Norman J.

SASSEVILLE, Norman J.

1943 - 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Father, grandfather, brother and uncle. Norman Joseph (Pops) Sasseville left us on August 14th, 2025, at the age of 82, surrounded by his loving family. Pops was Born in Earlton, Ontario on July 8th, 1943. Raised in Swastika, Ontario. A big man in stature and in spirit, Norm was known by all for his booming laugh, generous heart, and unapologetic honesty.

Norm was predeceased by his father Andy in 1997, mother Emerilda in 2014, brother Denis 2008 and his first wife Georgina (Nina) in 2009.

Survived by his loving sons Maurice (Midge), Danny (Amber). Brother Desire (Doreen), Sister Alice (John). Nephews & Nieces, Kevin (Tanya), Jimmy (Laurie), Chris (Angela), Tara (Shane). Grandchildren, Ryan (Salem), Keegan & Kadence. He will also be missed by his great nephews Raiden, Rylan, Jeremiah, Chandler and great nieces Jaylin, Chelsea and Cait.

Also mourning the loss of Norman is his “little buddy” and roommate Victor and his special friend Dawn.

Norm lived life full throttle. He was a hard-working man working for Trans Canada Pipeline for 35 years. He believed in earning your place, speaking your mind, and never backing down from a challenge—especially when it came to a good card game. He had a lifelong love of gambling, not just for the thrill, but for the stories, the people, and the laughter that always came with it. Pops loved to travel to Las Vegas and Casino Rama with his brothers and close friends.

Family was everything to Norm. He showed his love through actions, loyalty, and presence. Whether it was a breakfast gathering, a karaoke night, or a late-night heart-to-heart, he brought people together like few could. He never missed a chance to brag—loudly and proudly—about his three grandchildren, who were truly the light of his life. His love was loud, warm, and unwavering.

He was an avid sports fan, especially cheering on his beloved Habs. He enjoyed watching hockey, baseball & football. Pops was an amazing athlete in his younger years playing broom ball, hockey, baseball and football. He was also a great coach to many and also enjoyed being a referee in many sporting events.

There was never a dull moment when Norm was in the room. He believed that laughter belonged in every corner of life—even in the hard times—and he had a gift for turning ordinary moments into unforgettable memories. His stories, his jokes, his one-liners—those will echo in our hearts forever.

Norm lived his life the way he wanted—boldly, lovingly, and with a mischievous glint in his eye. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and the kind of spirit that can’t be measured in years, but in moments shared and lives touched.

In accordance with Pops’ wishes, there will not be a celebration of life. One of his biggest wishes was for everyone to treat each other with kindness. So, if you’re thinking of how to honour Norm start there. Be kind. Be patient. Be good to each other. That’s what he wanted most.

Rest easy, Norm. You were one of a kind, and you will be deeply missed.

All the Sassevilles

What a wonderful obituary for a wonderful friend! His passing is a time of great sadness for many. I first met Norm when I came back to KL to teach in the early ‘60’s ( at a stag/ playing cards) and we developed a strong friendship through our involvement in the many activities of the community! We will always remember his friendliness, sense of humour, fairness, kindness and honesty! Great memories but a very sad loss!
Our condolences to his family and so many friends- Brian and Gale Hamilton

Sorry to read of Norm's death. He was such a cheerful, fun person. We remember him and Georgina when they were young and working at the Dominion Store. Norm always gave us such good service. Swastika lost two wonderful "Norms" this past year - Norm Burdick and now Norm Sasseville. Our deepest sympathy to your family.

Norm's Family

Sending my deepest condolences to Norm's family. I met Norm over 40 years ago when he coached our Federal Tavern broomball team. He was a great coach & from that point on I always referred to him as "Dad" & he called me "Daughter". A joke we shared from our only broomball tournament years ago. He was a great friend & we always stopped & chatted over the years! Loved his laugh & sense of humor!
RIP Norm!

To all of Norm's family

Brigitte & I enjoyed 7 years in K.L. Pie’s Panthers and the Sasseville's played a big part in welcoming us into the community. We came to love K.L. and were fortunate to enjoy many social events, NHL games and Caribbean vacations with our friends over the years since we left. In the last few years Norm and I made it a habit to get in touch with each other by phone and solve the world’s problems, talk sports and catch up. To all those that loved him please accept our heartfelt condolences.
